THAI Arranges Special Flights to Saudi Arabia for Hajj Pilgrimage

    Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) arranged 10 special flights for Thai Muslims to attend the Hajj Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, whereby the first flight departed from Narathiwat Airport to Medina Airport, Saudi Arabia. THAI anticipates that approximately 3,000 passengers will participate in the pilgrimage.
    ACM Siwakiat Jayema, THAI Acting President, said that THAI operated special flights from Narathiwat to Medina in order to transport Thai Muslims from Southern Thailand to attend the Hajj Pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The first flight on this route departed on 27 August 2014, the first day of the pilgrimage. The Prime Minister and Hajj Committee of Thailand appointed THAI to organize 10 special flights during the Hajj, which is the same as organized in past years. THAI will organize 10 flights and transport 3,000 passengers to Medina, Saudi Arabia. Two flights departed for Saudi Arabia on 27 August 2014. During 28-31 August 2014, two flights will depart from Narathiwat Airport and eight flights will depart from Hat Yai International Airport. During 10-19 October 2014, THAI will operate special return flights from Jeddah to Thailand which will be operated with Airbus A330-300 aircraft. THAI’s HALAL kitchen will prepare meals that will be served on board and all HALAL meals are prepared with adherence to Islamic dietary requirements. THAI’s HALAL kitchen received HAL-Q certification for HALAL standards on all special flights.
